During the month of April, the National Encounter of Adolescent Network was carried out in Quito, in which about 30 members of six adolescent networks from all over the country participated. The event had the technical support of the National Council for Intergenerational Equality, (CNII), World Vision and The United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF.
The encounter exposed the dynamics of rights protection in the localities where the network operates. Among the factors identified by the adolescents as obstacles that prevent the fulfillment of their rights, some of the following were mentioned: lack of communication between parents, educational authorities and among adolescents themselves and discrimination, particularly, towards women adolescents.
The assistants to the forum also voiced their concern about the need to take into account the inclusion of adolescent groups in rural zones, with disabilities, and in a situation of human mobility*, all of which many times limit their participation and fulfillment of their rights.
*Human Mobility: consists on leaving temporarily of definitely your place of residence to establish or work in another country or region of the country.
